Dell D600 Laptop 1.6ghz, 40 GB Difficult Drive
I ordered a refurbished D600 from Dell Financial Services 3 years ago. It was a good solid laptop while I received it. Mine had 1gb of RAM and a CD/DVDROM (no burner). Mine too did not come with an XP CD or any recovery disc at all. I received an old Windows 2000 CD, so I loaded that. I tried upgrading it to Vista Dwelling Basic. It was style slow, evening with 1gb of RAM. I passed Server 2003 and Server 2008 on it for a while, to examine for certification exams. I too passed Fedora and Ubuntu Linux for a while. It even extended a hackintosh version of Os X dell latitude d600 fair well. I think the difficult drive got moving bad afterward I reformatted it therefore many times. I replaced the hard drive with a spare 20gb drive. This drive was tpo little for Vista, Berth and entirely the latest patches. I got back to Windows 2000, because it was small and went the best. I never essayed it with XP, because Dell did not include the XP CD with my purchase. This was a smashing laptop for learning different operating systems in a try environment.
I did receive a few problems with this laptop. First, the CD/DVD drive had problems booting from CDs afterwards a while. DVDs seemed to boot ok. Second, the hard drive starget moving bad. I conceive I but bust it out. It was slowly enough to interchange myself. Third, way slowly with Windows Vista. I harmonize with the other reviewers who said it’s besides slow to be a gaming computer.
My biggest complaint with the D600, is that it’s hence darn heavy. It weighs virtually 5 1/2 lbs, or over 6 lbs if you include the charger. That’s but besides heavy to lug about when I’m traveling. I sold it to a protagonist for a selfsame good cost and ordered a Dell Mini 9 netbook to accept traveling. The 2.2 lb Netbook is mode more convenient to accept traveling. By the way, almost Netbooks have a 1.6ghz processor compared to the 1.4ghz processor in the D600. Sometimes I lack the 14 in screen, simply the Netbooks little size, lightweight and portablity more than build up for it.
